i'm a 23 year old youth pastor and I struggle with it all:
-Porn
-Masterbaition
-Setting of casuel encounters but never "going through with it"

I am engaged and she doesnt know, it's a very bad habit but i can't seem to kick it. Thought about resigning but it would destroy and crush everbody and everything.

I know im forgiven and I have good weeks where i do fine but other weeks im suprised i can roll out of bed and go into the office without a 2nd though.

I'm a loser... goodbye

Dear Guilty as Charged:

You are not a loser. Regardless of what you have done never forget that Jesus loves you.

I would recommend finding someone who you feel safe with that you can share this with. I am sure many can testify from experience that it is nearly impossible to break a habit like this without help from someone else.

I would also suggest that you install accountability software and an internet filter on all your computers.

Don't keep these things a secret or hold onto them on your own. The devil will continue to taunt you and remind you of this until you break it.

I will continue to pray for you and I hope that you find someone this week you can share your heart with...

Hey, I too am a 20 yr old intern youth pastor and struggling with the exact same things, a 9 yr battle and i am still searching for 'the cure'.

I want to encourage you to find someone you can be open with, your pastor or your mentor whoever that may be. Its just a start but hey, it helps me to be honest and open with my pastor.

Also definitely go for the internet filter. Sure it seems a little 'over the top' or 'unnecessary', but its a practical way to help yourself stay away from the dangers of the web. I mean if we think, 'I can handle the web' well isn't that our own pride and how we fail? Safe Eyes is a good program, use the trial see if you like it.

I totally understand the feeling of being a loser. I guess the important thing to realise, is well alot of the people in the bible were 'losers'. Take David and Bathsheba for example, the reality is were in God's hands and there is victory in Christ. He and only He can make our lives something great like Davids life. Let us both draw near to Christ and see Him defeat our problem. I am praying for your victory. Blessings
