Pete the Porno Puppet

Pete the Porno Puppet is a campaign to get porn out of kids hands. The easiest  way children can get porn is if parents make it available. Pete's message is simply for parents to "Say NO to Pornography" so it will not end up in kids hands. Below you will find a history of the Pete the Porno Puppet campaign. Since 2004, Pete has been urging parents around the globe to protect their kids "for Pete's sake." Look around and watch the two Pete commercials as well as view the Press features on Pete.

HOW IT STARTED
It all started with the below email from Jimmy D, a porn producer. The short is he wanted to help X3 make a public service announcement warning children about the dangers of pornography. The below correspondence led to the shooting of Pete the Porno Puppet.

January 2, 2004: Original Offer from Jimmy D
"To some of you, this might sound like I've lost it, but I've decided to make an offer to the XXXChurch that they probably CAN refuse... but who knows?Maybe you've heard of the XXX Church? They're the people who produced and are airing anti-porn commercials featuring a midget. The midget "hook" (or theme) has to do with their message about porn stunting your growth.

I'm not sure if porn actually stunts anyone's growth-actual, psychological, emotional, or spiritual (at least in terms of the viewing of porn stunting one's growth)? I am quite sure, however, that producing porn stunts some of your s**t, especially after producing it for a long time. I know it has stunted me--most assuredly psychologically. But I was probably stunted in more ways than I care to admit before I got into porn so what the f**k. I'm also fairly sure there are porn fans out there who are obsessed with watching this stuff we make. And getting obsessed about anything usually has stunting consequences, in one way or another. But that's their problem, not mine. Anyway, I went to XXXChurch.com and checked out what these particular anti-porn Christians had to say. And while I can't say I'm ready to see the light, I'll admit these people don't come off as whacko zealots. And they seem to have a sense of humor and a penchant for the offbeat.

So here's the deal: I'm an equal opportunity kind of guy. I so firmly believe in the 1st Amendment that I'll support these XXX Church guys with as much ardor as I support what we do here in the jizz biz regardless of the fact that these XXX Church guys would rather see me and all of us in the adult world go belly up.

So in the non-spiritual spirit of getting the word out... make that getting their word out (whether I agree with it or not), I'd like to volunteer my time and resources to helping the XXX Church make their next anti-porn commercial. That's right, I'm willing to shoot and edit their next 30-second spot for free. I'll supply the cameras, lights, sound equipment, and crew at no cost to them. I'll shoot and direct and perform the editing for absolutely no charge.Call me crazy. Call me a turncoat. Call me whatever the f**k you want. I don't really give a s**t. I got my own reasons for making this offer and frankly, my reasons are no one's business but my own. So now I'm going to write an email to these guys and make my offer to them. I'll let you know what they say."

January 4, 2004: 3rd Response from Jimmy D
"Ya know what? I'm starting to think my offer of shooting the free commercial might have a side benefit: Maybe I'll be the guy who bridges the gap between church and porn. Even though the constitution says that church and state should be separate, I don't think that means church and porn have to be separate. And since nothing ever gets solved without a dialogue, or maybe without the use of lethal weapons, maybe this dialogue will have a happy ending. Cuz ya see... I have a dream. And maybe cuz of me, Devann has started a dialogue with this church and maybe the dialogue will continue until everyone in porn and in the churches are dialoguing until one day we'll all simply get along. Porn people and church people standing side-by-side in love and harmony and understanding. Yep, I have a dream."


THE FIRST COMMERCIAL 2004
The commercial features a puppet named "Pete the Porno Puppet", who talks about finding his daddies porn stash, watching daddy watch a bunch of naked mommies on TV, and finding porno in his parents secret locked drawer. Shot by Jimmy D a porn producer and his crew Pete makes his debut.

The Press
The press fell in love with Pete the Porno Puppet. The Los Angles Times headlined an article in their newspaper "Unlikely Bedfellows in Crusade."  ABC and FOX both ran stories about the project on the evening news, in addition CNN featured the story on Headline and Financial News. And climaxing the press coverage of Pete was a feature of commercial on The Daily Show with John Stewart. Check them all out in the video player above.

700 Club- Pete, Jimmy D and X3
We did not mention our appearance on the show to too many people, in fear of them not airing the segment. It was a close call, but it finally ran when Pat Robertson was not there. The piece was scheduled to air a few weeks back and there was even promos on air for it. Suddenly, Pat Robertson, who apparently has direct communication with Jesus himself, said that Jesus would not go to a porn show and refused to put the piece on the air. We spoke with the producer and said we did not think Jesus would host the 700 Club and left it at that. A week went by, and the producer said the piece would run on the next Friday (Pat's day off). So, all that to say, it was a surprisingly great piece, which even includes Jimmy D. Since most of you probably did not watch. Check it out in the video player.


THE SECOND COMMERCIAL 2007
Pete the Porno Puppet is back! Urging kids everywhere to say no to pornography. Pete is not alone this time but has help from a special guest, Ron Jeremy himself. We have become close with Ron through traveling with him on the Porn Debate Tour and we both can agree that porn should be kept out of kids hands. Ron agreed to a cameo in the commercial.
