Letter to myself:

It’s going to be strange saying it out loud, but you do have an addiction. Its a nasty word that you often times just associate with alcohol or drugs – but porn is no different. But the journey to recovery is not about you and what you’re going to do to change it. You must realize that the Holy Spirit is here to help you withstand sin.

(1 Cor. 10:13 – 13 No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.)

And God is truly faithful! I write this to you because God has built in us, patterns of strength to withstand temptation.

Letter from my sex addict:

I’m literally the worst. I don’t struggle with fear and run to porn to feel more secure – I run to it for comfort. Its a sort of comfort food. It happens when I’m bored. It seems like it happens just because.

Lord God, please eradicate this from my life. This is no different from any other sin in my life that you don’t desire. Help me to withstand the temptation when it comes.
