There seems to be consistent moments in my life when I feel the burden and the discomfort of someone else’s pain. Men are constantly coming to me following their bad decisions expressing pain, fear, and uncertainty about the future. Some of those occasions ring through my mind for days and I can’t seem to turn them off. I hate watching people ruin their lives when there is incredible opportunity in Christ.

What direction do we offer to those who have fallen prey to the destruction of sin? Where do we point them? Where do we look when our choices have placed us in a difficult predicament?

Chris Tomlin writes words of hope in his song, Our God:

“Our God is greater, our God is stronger

God You are higher than any other

Our God is Healer, awesome in power

Our God, Our God…

Into the darkness you shine

Out of the ashes we Rise

There’s no One like You

None like You.”

1. God is always greater than our problems

He is prepared to lead us into his life. God is more than capable of taking us in the midst of our poor choices and realigning us to His ways. When it seems like there is no way forward God reaches out his hand. If you feel like you have placed yourself in a dark hole and it is nearly impossible to escape, surrender your life to Jesus. He is always greater.

2. Out of the ashes we rise

Life without God is almost certain to produce ashes. We are incapable of doing right without God. Many of us know this and yet still attempt to live apart from Him. Jesus wants us to live through him not only for Him. When we live for Him we still hold on to our abilities and power. When we live through him we understand that no breathe, accomplishment, or dream makes sense independent from Him.

If you have found yourself in a pile of ashes today, remember, our God is greater. If you seemed to have destroyed your life, His light invades your darkness and out of the ashes you rise.

Nothing is impossible with God.
