Years ago we created a page on our site called “Operation Save The Kittens”
Years later Russ wrote a blog called “How To Stop Masturbating.”
Last night, I saw a Kickstarter campaign called “Life Is Better When You Don’t Jack Off” (which before you jump all over us for posting something like this. I found it on Kickstarter. I did not make the trailer or start the campaign. The previous two posts XXXchurch did but we did not make the movie trailer. It is out there. It has bad words in it. Don’t click on the link if you are going to be offended by those things. The trailer and soon to be movie is spot on in it’s message. Argue later about the approach and style in which these guys are doing it.)
If you are up this late on the Internet you have time to go check out each of those links I just posted. Each of them in your own way might bother you, make you uncomfortable and even make you laugh.
I am fine with all three of those emotions because at the end of the day, I just want you to talk about a real issue that most people are dealing with.
Surveys show that before both male and females have reached 18, 80 percent of males and 59 percent of females have given masturbation a whirl.
As far as people over 18, the numbers get a bit sketchy. Some research shows that as many as 92 percent of women “admit” to it, while other surveys put that percentage anywhere between 50 and 70.
I remember when John Mayer was asked in an interview is mmasturbation for you is as good as sex? He responded with:
MAYER: Absolutely, because during sex, I’m just going to run a filmstrip. I’m still masturbating. That’s what you do when you’re 30, 31, 32. This is my problem now: Rather than meet somebody new, I would rather go home and replay the amazing experiences I’ve already had.
So, here is what I know. Being with someone else is better then being with someone you make up in your mind or fantasize about on a computer screen.
Reality is better then fantasy.
Reality is harder then fantasy.
Reality takes more time then fantasy.
We have countless stories, videos and blogs on the site her that you can read and dive into more if you don’t believe me. We will continue to talk about it week in and week out because we live in a world where McDonald’s is on every other corner, not because it is good, healthy or quality but it is fast, cheap and easy.
So is masturbation. It doesn’t cost you anything and it requires nothing from you to give to someone else. It is a cheap substitute for something that is so much better but we settle.
I plan to meet up with the guys who are working on the film “Life Is Better When You Don’t Jack Off” I appreciate the humor and the boldness and the risk they are taking trying to put a film out to the public on a taboo topic like masturbation. It speaks to today’s youth directly on a topic that most people never talked to them about.
I decided to support the project last night and plan to meet with the guys because the title is the truth….Life is better when you don’t jack off.
Good night!
Craig
BTW – The guys need a few more bucks to reach their goal to make this film. Chip in if you would like!
