Have you ever read something that has you so irritated that it’s almost funny?
While I had planned to pen something else today, a news story entitled “Free Porn Videos to Hit Xbox 360 Following Internet Explorer Update” caused me to put the other thing on hold. I mean, what in the *world* is *this* foolishness right here:
“An imminent Xbox 360 update will see free porn videos brought to the entertainment console for the first time, as Microsoft acknowledges the adult content themed by-product of adding Internet Explorer to the PS3 rival.
With Microsoft announcing that the Xbox 360 would be updated to run Internet Explorer back in June at E3 2012, the console bound web browser is currently in Beta with adult video site [porn site] revealing the possibility of bringing hardcore porn to the Xbox 360 for the first time in a recent blogpost.”
*Just wow*. Further reading proved that this was YouPorn’s feelings about the situation:
“Gamers and free porn lovers around the world rejoice,” the official [porn site] blog posting read. “Thanks at long last to the introduction of Internet Explorer for Xbox, you can now tap in to and stream all your favourite free [porn site] videos right from your Xbox.”
As far as Microsoft, they wanted to further clarify:
“To be clear, we are adding Internet Explorer to Xbox Live, not specific adult content providers like [porn site] or any other specific website content,” a Microsoft spokesperson said according to a recent PocketLint report. “Additionally, we give members and parents the option to turn this feature on or off for their accounts. Access to Internet Explorer for all child accounts is blocked by default.”
Sigh. As if we don’t have enough to contend with to protect our kids (and shoot, even ourselves) from porn’s trappings. Matter of fact, I also read about a woman who is suing RadioShack because while *she thought* that she was getting a *new phone* for her 13-year-old daughter, she ended up with a refurbished one that was loaded with child and adult pornography on it.
Personally, I’m not sure why all of these kids need techonology at such young ages, but either way, I just wanted to send this out as a heads up. The porn site that is mentioned in the article, in my porn days, I was quite familar with. The home page alone is beyond hardcore. On this sight of healing, it’s actually pretty disgusting and a *really traumatizing way* for *any child* to be introduced to sex.
Gaming and porn is not like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Regardless of what that site says, they aren’t “the perfect pair” and there is *absolutely nothing* to rejoice about.
It’s amazing the things that we fund, sometimes without even noticing it, isn’t it?
