OK Ya’ll…

I’m gonna make this one semi-brief.  Today, I was reading an article on Kanye West.  I have always found him to be (somewhat of) a creative mastermind and semi-strange, but this particular article (an excerpt of his upcoming interview in “Details Magazine”) made me cry out for him…and whoever he is “partaking with” (since we all know that sex makes two people one-I Corinthians 6:15-16).

As he spoke on his “from a young age” sex addiction being the fuel which motivates him, this is what caused me to do a spiritual double-take:

As a kid, West combined his
sexual addiction with another one of his favorite childhood pasttimes:
video games. The artist said he produced his first “Super Mario Bros.:
The Penis Remix” in the seventh grade:

“My game was very sexual.
The main character was, like, a giant penis. It was like Mario
Brothers, but the ghosts were, like, vaginas. Mind you, I’m 12-years-old, and this is stuff 30-year-olds are programming,” he says. “You’d
have to draw in and program every little step—it literally took me all
night to do a step, ’cause the penis, y’know, had little feet and
eyes.”

Lawd! Say what?!?

A couple of weeks ago, I started a marriage prep instruction series:

http://beforeyoujumpthebroom.blogspot.com/

Basically, although I desire to be married (someday), I know that I have spent entirely too much time/energy letting everyone and everything BUT the Word of God show me it’s purpose.  Just today, I received a confirmation that I am not alone:

“Talk about some mental and spiritual digestion! I just went and read
your marriage prep series numbers 1-5 and I had to stop and transfer
all my highlights into a word document so I could go back and reflect…
and make a ‘to do’ list. I am so happy God is using you to throw,
shove, and/or cram this wisdom into our little brains. I wish I had
been raised with the mentality that God wants so much more for us out
of marriage than society conveys! I grew up in a loving home with
parents that have always kept their relationship ‘God centered’;
they’ve made it through 44 difficult, yet wonderful years together… and
yet somehow I missed the boat! I was taught that I should wait to have
sex before I get married, but I was never told why other than ‘The Bible says so.’ I am so glad that there is more to it than that cookie
cutter response that doesn’t even scratch the surface of Gods purpose
for us sexually
.”

AND THERE IS.  We have all either read or heard the scripture, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”, but have you read the second part of that verse?

“Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”—Matthew 16:26 (NKJV)

Oh, I really love how the Message Version puts it:

What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?”

Even with all of the money, all of the fame…all of the awards and accolades, after reading about a sex video game that Kanye made as a CHILD, I am wondering just how cheap of a price is being paid for his stability…his sanity…even his sexuality.

Please ya’ll.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE understand the purpose of sex before partaking in it, and if you have a past history of woundedness, get some help for it.  There’s not enough money in the world to pay for your soul once it’s been lost.

How do I know?  The Bible tells me so…
