Uh…and that would be TODAY.

You know, I can’t really get a solid read on “Details” (magazine).  As a writer, I find their choice of journalists to be top-notch…but more and more then content seems…well…less MANLY and more “METRO”…(I’ll leave that right there.)

But, while I was in the LGA airport, I came across the title of a cover feature that made me once again slap down my (roughly) five bucks:

THE CURIOUS CASE OF THE GAY-PORN-STAR IDENTICAL TWINS

I know, right?!?  Chalk it up to being an occupational hazard that comes with kickin’ it with the boys (it was great hangin’ with y’all, Craig, Clint and Sam…and one gal: Michelle and “Rims”), but I see “porn” and it makes me curious (not porn porn, but you get my point).  Anyway, I thought I had read and seen it all…I hadn’t.  The story was about these two physically beautiful identical twin brothers: one a homosexual model and another a “non-homosexual” (uh, I guess) hustler who, while trying to make money for themselves, got caught up in the porn (and crime) game.

Now, if you decide to get or even just read this article, let me forewarn you: the picture of two naked BROTHERS straddling one another is BEYOND DISTURBING.  I mean, it took me about ten minutes just to get over that shock alone.  But then, as I read the really sad tale of how they first did a film watching a movie (together) and masturbating in some random hotel room, then transitioned into hard-core porn for $500-1000 a pop (that’s it?!?) and then doing “erotic modeling” and then the “straight one” actually doing a three-way with his brother…and then the “straight one” convincing his homosexual brother to do a series of burglaries, which eventually earned them the name, “The Twin Brother Bandits”, I was literally sick to my stomach…NO EXAGGERATION.  However, with all that I read, it was these three excerpts that made me decide I needed to pen this:

“In a sandwich shop two blocks from the garage where his brother was arrested, Keyon nervously toys with the salt and pepper shakers, rearranging them over and over.  The queer brother introduces the brother to gay pornography; the crooked twin brother shows his law-abiding brother a life of crime; yin follows yang.”

“During his interrogation the day of the arrest, polic say, Keyon stated not only that his brother was ‘the mastermind’ behind the crime but that his mother was in on the scheme as a second lookout.”

“He [Keyon] frequently mentions his love for his mother and brother, but then again, in Keyon’s quid pro quo world, relationships are often transactional. ‘You protect your neck,” he says. “I care about people who care about me.  Anybody else, relative or not, you don’t care about me? F–k you.” (All on pg. 109 of the April issue)

Oh, how my heart goes out—no, oh how my heart bleeds for these two young men: one who is already in prison and another who is awaiting trial (and yet, still getting modeling/tv gigs).

I’m going to get really vulnerable here, but with truth comes freedom. (John 8:32)  I make it no secret that porn used to be “entertaining” for me.  And to be honest with you, like premarital sex, I stopped more because God said to (lust of any kind of a sin to him) than because of how I personally felt about it.  But the healthier I become, the more crytic and disturbing the porn world is to me.  A brother convinces another brother to hold him naked for a picture?  The other brother convinces that same brother to rob people/banks/businesses?  The mother cosigns on it? The “hustler brother” is so broken that he can’t come to a resolve on his feelings for his own flesh and blood?

THIS IS THE FACE OF PORN THAT MORE OF US NEED TO SEE.  It’s not sexy, it’s not glamorous, it’s not “fun” or “sensual”.  It’s disturbing and disgusting…and it’s destroying lives…one picture, one story, one Internet download, one DVD at a time.  Oh how I hurt for those men…how I hurt that money truly is A ROOT (not “the” root) to all evil, and that daily I am reminded that it does indeed cause people to have “…pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (I Timothy 6:10)

I know it’s probably really easy to judge these guys…but really. Those of us who are in the “fan stands” watching these people ruin themselves…are we much better?  Much like the Romans who used to watch men tear one another to shreds, all the while cheering them along, when we continue to entertain pornography, we are sending out a message to the dark side of the spirit world that we are “OK” with lives being destroyed at the hands of lust and greed; that the souls of our brothers (and sisters) don’t matter so long as we can use them to get “our needs” met.

I know that I know that I know that God never intended for sex to be this way: sexual voyeurs contributing to the lifestyle of lost and spiritually ignorant (of their truth value and purpose) exhibitionists who don’t see that ANYTHING contrary to God’s will is a trap of the Enemy; that being paid to have sex comes at a steep and delilitating price. (John 10:10)

We must pray for these two men…and while we’re at it, “Details” (because they also did a feature on how a break from monogamy in marriage can actually save it: http://men.style.com/details/features/landing?id=content_8120) and the countless other faces and body parts that may be making money and gaining fame from having sex, but are nothing more than prey to the Enemy.

A curious case, indeed but one that put a REALLY BAD taste of porn in my mouth: the cure-alls to be all.  Amen.
