X3groupsIn October we posted results from a recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center that indicated porn use among men and women was much less than what others (including ourselves) may say and asked if you agreed with these “findings.” The response we received was overwhelming.  Over 90% of you disagreed with the survey and said that porn use among men and women was far more substantial than what the survey had claimed otherwise (25% of men and 8% of women respectively).

Well, The Huffington Post recently questioned these finding too (specifically the idea that only 8% of women watch porn). In a response to the Pew’s survey, the Huffington detailed the finding of another survey conducted on a small sampling of women (300 to be exact) and found that roughly 85% of respondents admitted to watching porn as a “fantasy escape.” Admittedly, this survey was conducted by a sex toy and lingerie retailer who polled their own clientele so it may be safe to assume that the results might be a bit skewed as well. Nonetheless, these findings (while not scientific or conclusive) certainly beg the question, are women more into porn that what most think? We would say yes.

Every week we get emails and confessions from women who habitually struggle with porn use. In fact, the women’s section of our site regularly gets more traffic than the men’s! The real unfortunate thing is that since many still wrongly assume that porn is largely a “man’s problem” there is very little help out there for the vast amount of women who also struggle with sex or porn addiction.  Additionally, it’s far more difficult for women to seek out help because as taboo a subject as porn use is (especially in the church world), it’s even more so when we talk about it in the context of female consumption.

Well, if you are women nodding your head in agreement while reading this thinking, “Yes, I need help and there is none” then I have good news for you. In January we are launching our first X3 recovery and support group exclusively for women. This is just the first group of several that we will be launching in the coming year and we are stoked to have a fantastic lady from our team leading this endeavor.

If you are a women who struggles with porn think about joining this X3group and find the support you need amongst other women who are struggling with the same issues.  You are not alone and it’s about time you stopped feeling that way. Start the road to real recovery today and reserve your spot in this group while there is still space left.
