This won’t be a complicated blog. I really only have one thing to say.

Jesus Loves You.

Hardly a shock. Hardly something new. I’m not really rocking the theological boat here.

But for a lot of us, we have forgotten this. Sometimes when we strip away everything in our lives, what we are left with is not love.

What we are left with are our own doubts, or our own failures or ‘truths’ about ourselves that are really just lies.

But worse than believing lies about ourselves is that we believe lies about God.

We believe that God has stopped loving us or that he has deserted us. He hasn’t.

For some of you reading this, this might not make any difference right away. You will be so caught up in your addiction that you have become so rooted in your lies. This past week where you have looked at porn everyday has submerged you deeper and deeper into your lies. Your lies are now your truths.

But that is exactly what they are. Your truths. And thankfully for you they don’t count for an awful lot. They may seem real but they couldn’t be further from that.

So if we want to get out of this thinking then we need to start thinking differently. Hey I’ve heard that before I hear you say.

Well maybe you heard it here.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.(Philippians 4v8-9)

And where do we go for truth about ourselves?

OK I am going to hit you with a bombshell. You will not see this coming. Here is the little nugget of wisdom that will transform your life.
Someone make a drum roll please.

You go to Jesus.

Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well that’s because it is. I know that being addicted to porn is hard to break. I know because I have been there. But to start off it is really as simple as confessing to Jesus and letting his love change you.

But if it’s so simple why don’t we do that?

Why instead do we decide to hide from him and sink further and further?

Because we don’t believe him.

We don’t believe him when he says that nothing matters except that he loves us. We don’t believe him when he tells us that nothing can separate us from his love.

We don’t believe it because somewhere along the line we started to believe we need to quit looking at porn before God will love us. Somewhere along the line we added to God’s love.

Guess what?

That’s a lie. It’s baloney. You can spend the rest of your life looking at porn and God will still be there every time to welcome you home. Of course that doesn’t mean we can go on doing whatever we like. But the truth is even if you do, God will still love you.

It’s simple. It’s straightforward.

But in it’s simplicity is its beauty. Because it’s transforming. It’s affirming. It’s not fair. It’s unbelievable.

In fact it is so unbelievable that sometimes we just don’t believe it.

See what happens if for just one day you decide to believe the unbelievable.

You might just find there is love for the unlovable.
