A boner is uniquely proportionate to the mind and its ability to stimulate our sexual urge. And our mind is triggered by our eyes. As males, when we see an image, or a figure, or real-life woman walking by us, that image is photographed into our mind giving it this director-type quality to imagine it as a particular thought process.

Okay, I don’t know the science of the brain in connection with the penis. All I know is that when I think of a woman, I get a boner. And sometimes I feel like exploding! But what do I do?

Well, if that urge is stimulated by our thoughts, then it’s simple–we need to think on something else!

 

Philippians 4:8

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthythink about such things.

But as simple as it sounds, it’s difficult to think about something else when your penis is stretching your pants. Let’s face it, it’s tough to think about something else because it’s a war between our soul and body.

 

James 4:1

4 What leads to strife and how do conflicts originate among you? Do they not arise from your sensual desires that are ever warring in your bodily members?

 

Romans 7:23

23 But I discern in my bodily members [in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh] a different law at war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner to the law of sin that dwells in my bodily organs [in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh].

The body is given its pleasure by the mind. And to halt our natural response to think of sex or anything else giving us a boner causes an uncomfortable battle between what our bodies scream for and what our hearts stand against.

That why we need the Word of God as a daily supplement for our lives. It renews our mind. It restores our soul. It gives us the ability to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. And by the Word ever circulating in our mind, it intensifies us to fight off those thoughts that war against us and enables us to think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.

How big of a role does the Word of God play in your life? If the Word of God is not the director of your life and dictator of your thoughts, purity is impossible.
