PORN WEEKEND

By Craig on Sun, Jan 27th 08 at 12:51AM | Permalink | Comments (9)

David Dean and I are in Winnipeg, Canada for PORN WEEKEND. We had a sold out porn and pancakes this morning followed by three weekend church services. It is a bit cold in Canada but joining us for the weekend services is a great guy name Kelly Malveaux who plays professional football for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Some great stuff here in Canada.

I have never been to a porn Sunday, but I will be there tomorrow morning. Should be interesting - to be completely vague with a prediction. I look forward to it. As I read the Playboy Philosophy you guys are a welcome Christian voice on this matter that is so often left undiscussed in Christian homes because of denial, fear of judgment and shame, as well as a lack of healthy model relationship in varying dimensions. It will be a reprieve from my staunch fundamental (read: repressing) upbringing. Although I understand the point of view of much of your hate mail as I am a Bible college grad, I am also fully aware of the dichotomies that exist in life between theory and practice, God and sin, and is and ought. To me, they are a tad excessive. You disarm them by parading them for others. In regards to what the leftists suggest, I cannot cast the first stone, I'm glad my sins are forgiven. I just wish I had a better grasp realization/understanding of that so that I could be more fully free in Christ. It is not my true position that I am imprisoned, rather it is my lack of knowing that I am already out of the cell that chains me.

I'm sure that sign must've raised eyebrows within the community... :)

i'm one of the pastors at Riverwood church, and yes that sign raised alot of eyebrows. we recieved alot of phone calls asking when the porn show was - and got alot of hang ups when they realized what we were really doing! Locally, we just had a porn and pizza delivery shop open up. We wanted to be seen in our community taking this topic head on in our own back yard. what blows me away with this message is that this is not so much about pornography, but about how porn and other sin keeps us from accomplishing God's plan for our life. that's what it is about. God has a plan, and this stuff, this sin keeps getting in the way of us going out and doing that plan. everyone is born with a radical vision from God with what to do with our lives, and sin with all the shame and guilt that comes with it, keeps getting in the way. Craig, David, keep pushing, ignore the crtics, and focus on Christ. Matt

I was at today's service and I must say that Craig has got to be the best guy for the job. I love how bold these guys are in their outreach for many reasons, but the biggest reason being that this is a bold topic! Sure, maybe not everybody may be bold when talking about it, but no one can argue that the topic gets attention whenever brought up. I really cannot say enough good things about what these people are doing.

Start now. Things I hear now.. Yesterday.. Then.. When you were.. Were.. Were.. Ago.. What about then.. Remember.. If I said one time that I am a Christian, how can people use words in past+. Then when ago .. Yesterday.. How c an you have a conversation when we remember when.. I still say forgivness is a bunch of Christians walking around as the UNFORGIVEn. Just because you can not move on.. I am done.. I fail.. You either forgive or you don't.. If you ever bring up my past then you have risen the dead. A bunch of death... Sins.. Maybe that is why half the people do not talk to half the people.. Forgivness is not UNFORGIVEN.. Start and do not look back.. People have a way of pointing out things.. People have a way of bringing sins to light.. Even if is is embarrassing.. Not me.. I say once you know I know the way, then when you call me out you are being hurtful.. Jesus taught them what sin was.. They had no idea.. Once you know the way you can not depart. It is not my job as a Christian to call people out.. If they have secret sins then God knows.. I do not believe in embarressing.. Everyone does.. Today you can go from church to church to church to church to church to church to church to church and not find one with PREACHING.. You find churches with PREACHATIng.. Yea.. I went to church today and got preached at... How weak do you think God is.. He can not handle his children in privacy.. Now days PREACHING is gang style.. STand up or pay.. SIT down or Pay.. What about enjoy the service.. NO NO NO.. Watch out for PREAcHAting.. Instead of inviting people to talk about God.. Picture this... It is like having the person you are talking to at the end of a twisted towel you are both holding.. Instead of sitting down and enjoying company----The towel stays twisted with tension from somebody feeling they are obligated to preach out and expose the other person.. NO.. No.. They are not.. They are not supposed to keep a tight rope in between them and the audience.. They should just tell story after story about how great God is.. God can fix the flock if they are all in the fence.. no one believes that he is the sheerer.. They all feel like being barbers... I look at my leg and see where I felt the same way.. I still have a bald spot from where hair is missing...I warn you... These are my words until death.. I see how things are going.. Stop believing in yourself and leave the healing and mending to God.. PREACH PREaCH PREach the gospel.. WE know it.. God shows it.. Stop PREaCHATIng or you will never stop.. You will never stop PREACHating because it makes you feel powerful.. Let GOD do his fathers business.. You just preach about him.. We all know what sin is.. They.. Then.. Ago.. BAck then.. Did not.. Now they understand.. Stop PREACHATING.. Start Preaching to enjoy.

Ah..Winnipeg, the town that I went to school in. It's great that you guys were brave enough to go into the cold Canadian winter. I pray that your efforts will help the Winnipeg Christian community well.

oh yeah, keep ignoring all the critics. As a member of the body of Christ, I want to give you some encouragement as I cannot thank this ministry enough for helping me overcome my porn addiction. I've been porn free for 3 years now. Thank you.

Wow! I found your page by accident, but I am glad I did. Our church had a month series on porn last year and we also had porn sunday and posted it on our sign. I have to admitt I was a little embarresed but I cried threw the whole service not relizing my sexual abuse as a child had still left wounds within me. I am so thankful that someone has the courage to address this area. Porn does not just hurt the one looking at it, it feeds a very powerful force that harms alot of children!! Thanks again for getting out there on the battlefield!!!
