WAY OF THE MASTER BASHES X3
FYI, we get hate mail and FYI we post it here on the site. Today we got the ultimate hatemail! Kirk Cameron’s outfit, Way of the Master ripped on little Pete the Porno Puppet and X3! News flash. Well not really, we would expect that from them. (check out the video below and in the site player)
One of the radio hosts said this about XXXchurch.com: “I had to floss my brain with something burning to get what I saw there, out.” Ouch. We definitely have not heard that one before. In the show notes they state on their site “We apologize for this: Pete the (Christian) Porno Puppet” is on today.
It is funny the host says he is all for internet accountability and our free software (X3watch), but he does not even have the courage to mention the name of the software. So sorry we are not following the way of the master Kirk and ps this commercial came out last summer, it was on CNN. Where have you guys been? “Way” to be up on the times.

These are the same guys that challenged some big name atheists to a debate last year and promised to prove that there was a God without using scripture. What was their first arguement? That the Bible says there is a God! Oy!

This really made me sad, I almost wanted to cry. xxxChurch is not only helping me pull away from a sinnful life of bad choices and dirty habits. But there helping in a very painful, rough, and long healing process as I walk about from the homosexual lifestyle. There "out-there" tactics is what caught me in the first place. There willingness to go into the dark places and reach those who the church see as unreachable make me proud to call them a brothers in Christ. I love "Way of the Master", and I will continue to love them. Not because they desire it, nor really because my flesh wants to, but because their broken just like me. I hope they will see that the world does enough to burn bridges and erect walls within the church, we shouldn't be contributing. Come-on WOTM!

very very sad to hear... Its interesting that those people who are very good at critisizing others are the ones who are most passive. They just stand there, doing nothing, only critisizing people. I wont even waste my time emailing them. Keep doing the good work xxxchurch, you guys mean alot to us. I am very disappointed with choice by your staff to choice to use the gospel as a platform to degrade, and try to destroy another ministry. The comments of "What Would Jesus Do" in regards to how would Jesus react to the www.xxxchurch.com approach to reaching people is amazing. If I recall my bible correctly, Jesus went DIRECTLY to the tax collectors, the lepors, the undesirables and loved them, and taught them of himself. Is that not what xxxchurch is attempting to do.
I am and will be a big supporter and fan of your ministry also. I have taken the way of the master courses, and have the plaque hanging proudly in my den. I also proudly use and talk about xxxchurch.com (and other sites) to alot of my friends as a awesome resource to use in escaping the depths of pornography. xxxchurch has also helped me in my daily walk with the LORD in seeing my trigger points and how to escape them.
In the end, I think that Jesus ministry was about GRACE, LOVE. Jesus used MANY ways to attract followers to him. He endowed the preachers of the time with attributes to reach many peoples of the day. I still feel today that the HOLY SPIRIT is illuminating more and more ways that we can reach into a wicked and depraved people and reach them for the cross. Whatever way that is possible that is good. I strongly feel that xxxchurch.com and wayofthemaster.org are wonderful examples of different ways to equip, teach, promote and reach the saved and unsaved to the message of the truth in CHRIST.
The last thing that I will say is this. The hosts talks about this type of ministry being a joke, and NOT being what CHRIST would do to reach the lost is horrible and only serves to build up his own ego and ratings in the radio world. I have included a post from the website at xxxchurch.com that illustrates just how WRONG his comments and attitudes towards a ministry that is only trying to reach the lost are. I feel that a attitude of GRACE and LOVE as JESUS would have done would have been a better choice. Maybe, even talking to the group directly, and understanding their ministry in more detail would help them see this.

Last I knew "fruit that remains" was a pretty strong statement made in the Word to determine the lifestyle/work/intentions of another believer. It's pretty obvious this was never even considered before this man spew his Pharisaical opinions around. What would Jesus do?
Or what would Jesus say in response to this man's self righteous, judgmental, distorted opinion of this ministry? Perhaps the answer to that could be found directly out of the True Master's mouth..

oh and to those that think that the church itself or xxxchurch is helping them thats fine just know that the power is in Christ alone and not any man. The lord might send them to you to help you but its only through his power.Its sin that can onlybe washed by his blood. I was delivered from sex and porn, after 9 long years of use. The accountablity was fine, the peoples encouragement was good. But the only thing that help me was taking responsiblity for my sins, giving it up to God, reading the
Bible everyday, praying, fasting, and true fellowship. Just know its a hard road and its not easy, temptation is still there ( it will always be). The battle of the flesh is never ending. The flesh hungers for sin, it will always. But God alone has the power to raise you from the dead. Make you new. You will always have his grace, but it cannot be taken for granted. Hmm... I am split I guess. I think that xxxchurch.com is a great ministry yet I would question the point of the video. I thought (and I am not very plugged in) that xxxchurch.com toured and did a porn debate with Ron. And Ron said what he said in the video and the guys and xxxchurch.com stated what jesus said about lust and yadda yadda... But, it seems that the video is simple Ron expressing his un-biblical view really that's it. It would have been nice if the puppet said, "Thanks Ron, pornography is something that jesus told us to avoid..." I know it's kinda cheesy... I am not a writer, but something to balance. Again, I love ya xxchurch and I still support your ministry. But, that video was giving too much ground to a lie. That, for adults, viewing porn is ok. Again, who am I. I am a nobody. But, that's my thought.

I think your hearts in the right place, but your attitude needs some adjusting. You're whining about Way of the Master, and not even considering the possibility that maybe they have a point. We all need accountability and that includes ministries like this. Other ministries can help provide that. I'm not saying to blindly listen to anyone, but listen to what they say and pray for incite.

You know, I have listened to "Way of the Master Radio" since they first came on the radio, and this is the first time I have really heard them say anything bad about your ministry. You got to admit though they got a point. Seriously, that advertisement does kinda send the message that pornography is okay if you are an adult. Not to mention that it kinda presents pornography in what a cute little matter, kinda making it out to be not big deal and not harmful, but we all know that the opposite is true. Take the time to look at their perspetive on this issue. You might come to the conclusion that the ad wasn't such a good idea after all.

I think I'll refrain from xxx.church. That commercial was enough for me to cry. Children do not need to be exposed to that. ESPECIALLY within church! I pray that the xxx.church ministry will see that children are fragile & need protection from these kinds of things. In the Mighty Name of JESUS.

This conflict poses a very profound issue for me. We support both XXXCHURCH & WOTM on the show and I have come to love both of these ministries very much. More importantly I feel that each ministries holds strengths that best minister to our listeners. For grass roots evangelist & apologetics, WOTM is second to none and for anti-porn ministry there is no ministry more effective than XXXCHURCH. Honestly, I see strengths and weaknesses on both sides, but it is not my place to point them out, for this ministry too has it's share of strengths and weaknesses, so I have no stone to throw at either. I cannot take side, nor will I, but I will entreat both ministries in love and simply say this: We as Christians should not air our differences publicly. We wouldn't want these conflicts to drive away anyone searching for truth on our sites or listening to our video's or audio productions. Who are we as Christians if we fail to give eachother the same measure of Grace that God gives to us? Would we want to be judged by the same measure from Him?? Not me! Jesus said "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God " Matt 5:9. The Full Armor Of God Broadcast will continue to air both WOTM Minutes & XXXCHURCH.COM radio promos side by side as we always have.
I have faith that if both ministries seek peace they will have it. I know there are many ways that both ministries can compliment each other. Remember Satan seeks to make enemies of our allies. I will pray for peace between these two ministries that I love very much.

One more thing. Brandon posted the story and I agree with what he said. We don't bash everyone that does not agree with us. Trust me there are a lot of people that don't agree with our tactics and game plan. I hope we never play it so safe that all religious people love us. Jesus never did that. Jesus turned over tables. Why we don't bash everyone, we are not politicians here and aren't afraid to roll some of this stuff out there. Part of it is humorous and part of it is to show the rest of the world what goes on in these religious circles so they can see that religion divides but Jesus unites. Do we need more fans or more critics? No. We honestly are interested in exposing some of this nonsense that sounds a lot like the pharisees in Jesus day in hoping that people who have lost faith in religion can see that Jesus was not like most of the religious people in his day. Are we going to do a tour with Way of the Master or go on TBN with kirk? No. But they have an audience and a way of how they do things and we have a way of doing what we do. Which one is better? Neither. Each serves a purpose. You will not see any of us here at X3 start throwing stones at other ministries but when stuff is thrown at us, we normally put that up on the site for everyone to see. Our hatemail page has been going strong since day 1 over 6 years ago.

You get all upset when a radio show host voices his opinions, saying that he has no right to his point of view, while voicing your own opinions about his ministry as well as others (The 700 Club, etc...)
When you suggest that we "expose [our children] to all kinds of sin" diametrically opposes Proverbs 22:6
Raising the awareness that Kids look at porn is about as profound as raising awareness that kids play with toys... But that's not the issue - the REAL issue is HOW we raise awareness...
Jesus wasn't talking in a puppet character voice when He told those who were listening that lust of the eyes and lust of the flesh is wrong - and He wasn't just talking to one age group - He was saying that it is wrong for everyone of every age group and worthy of God's judgment.

You get all upset when a radio show host voices his opinions, saying that he has no right to his point of view, while voicing your own opinions about his ministry as well as others (The 700 Club, etc...)

Raising the awareness that Kids look at porn is about as profound as raising awareness that kids play with toys... But that's not the issue - the REAL issue is HOW we raise awareness...
Jesus wasn't talking in a puppet character voice when He told those who were listening that lust of the eyes and lust of the flesh is wrong - and He wasn't just talking to one age group - He was saying that it is wrong for everyone of every age group and worthy of God's judgment.

It very well maybe that Kirk does not know anything about it. I am in touch with WOTM's executive producer very often and he recently told me that Kirk has been so busy on other projects that he and Ray rarely even come on WOTM Radio these days. I wouldn't be surprised if Kirk himself knows nothing about it. You issue is with Todd & WOTM Radio, not necessarily WOTM as a whole. But Todd is a good brother. I think he just didn't know enough about what you are doing, to completely understand XXXCURCH. I stand for you your credibility, as I do for theirs too. Did Todd get too judgemental. Perhaps. I understand why you filmed that vid. But would I want my little niece hearing a porn star say porn is ok for adults?? No. Would I want my un-saved neighbors kids, who see their fathers porn videos laying around the house to see that video?? YES!!! I still think this is just a sad misunderstanding. And as upsetting as it is that Todd does not see the value in what you do yet, he is still a good man to have in the foxhole with you against the enemy. I understand you wanting to defend this ministry, but perhaps it would be better not to return fire with fire. kuba...you might be right. the picture brandon found was just to great not to put on the site. here is my thought though. xxxchurch has employees now and a ton of volunteers that take ownership in this ministry. i have not met all of them. i don't meet with everyone weekly BUT we are all on the page as far as the ministry goes. i can't stand when ministries get so big that the leader or spokesperson can use that as a disclaimer that they are not involved and hide behind that. if that is the case take your name off the website or the radio program or step away from the pulpit but that excuse doesn't work for me.

(If they didn't understand fine, then put the e-mail and phone up with a little line that said, "Don't send hate mail, just ask them to have us on for a show to explain what we do".
I know I am in no position to tell you guys how to run your ministry. I have followed XXXChurch from the beginning and have a feeling there is no "telling" Craig how to run his ministry (Not an insult just an observation).
I want XXXChurch to understand that I back you guys. I love what you do and support you by buying shirts and cards, but as a Christian brother I just want to encourage you guys. I know it sucks when people call your ministry crap and that its not making a difference, even when you see the change in peoples lives. I just ask that for a moment you have as much compassion for the ignorance Christians as you do for the ignorant pre-Christians.

this is obviously a case of old meets new. WOTM is not reaching the people X3 is. Remember the message is sacred but the packaging is not. The war we are fighting now can't be fought with the same weapons we used 100 or 200 years ago, and the harvest is ready whether you like it or not. Go do what you are called to do, and ignore the flack. Jesus said it would come. Both sides need to realize what the Bible says...if you aren't gathering then you are scattering. They did have some valid points that you could take into consideration. Pete got the message out to me and my boys. But I ask the question - when did Jesus or the Apostles rip into to folks with such a degrading fashon. Yes, they called the pharisees white washed tombs full of dead mens bones... but that was for the self-rightousness they all had without a repentent hard... AND because they dedicated their lives precisely to CONDEMN people and tell them why they were not good enough.
I think it is sad that some folks are like this - I have to admit... several months back I was going real gun ho with embracing XXXCHURCH but I had to step back... let me explain.
I love the concept - I believe there is fruit... but I live in another country and while there is a total need for something like what XXXCHURCH does down here... it is a different culture and not all of the same methods will work in the same way. But just because something that they do up there might now work the same way down here... doesn't mean I am about to rip into them. I praise God for all of the good that comes out of XXXCHURCH and the lives that have been impacted and changed. The other stuff that I might not do exactly the same... that is between the XXXCHURCH leadership and God
but unless it is a grave sin issue... it is not my place to defame them. If it is merely a question about STYLE or what may work in one culture or subculture vs. another... yeah, who am I to judge? I've got so much sin in my own life and my own life and ministry are such a mess that I don't have time to try and crucify everybody else around me.

And there are folks who will exalt you and make you into porn preacher rock stars - and of course, you are not that either...
so if we respond to critisicm in an ugly way (not saying you are) it will only give ammo for the other guy to say
"SEE - I TOLD YOU SO - these guys are aggressive and lack humility and blah blah blah"
take it easy... if you get on their show... God will give you wisdom and gentleness to answer in the christlike manner. Remember that a soft answer calms anger or something like that it says in proverbs.

They even have separate websites. wayofthemaster.com & wayofthemasterradio.com, I totally get bringing to the main office's & Kirk's attention, but I think that you would do well not to retaliate against Kirk personally for what Todd said. At least give them an opportunity to respond and work out the issue privately, even though it wasn't a good idea for Todd to confront you on the air instead of privately with his concerns. I know what 3X is about, but I do see how someone who doesn't know you well could get the wrong idea. On the other hand, I understand your position and I do see your point. I am in no way trying to take sides, I am equally defending XXXChurh on the other side of the coin. I just think that if you and Todd could respectfully privately discuss this matter with each other over a hot cup of Joe as to brothers in Christ, I am sure that you could resolve this and be more valuable as allies than as foes. I am sure, that in his heart Todd only has your best interests in heart. I know he can be upsetting at times, that is why he is so good at what he does as the host of a talk show (lol), but I know that deep down that brother would walk through fire for you if he had too. I personally benefit from the education that I have received from both ministries and would encourage people to "Not to throw out the baby with the bathwater." I know that they can be a bit overly judgmental at times, I do. But in spite of the shortcomings that we all have, we should try to make peace at all cost. I personally benefit from the education that I have received from both ministries and would encourage people to "Not to throw out the baby with the bathwater." WOTM has some VERY good materials, as does 3X.
I once read about an ancient battle between the Celts & Scots vs. The English. The Celts & Scots were a band of various clans joined together and when they prepared in their battle set on the field some fights broke out between rival clans within the same army. That is all this is.. I urge you, as one who loves both ministries very much, to keep your eyes on the enemy and find peace with each other at all cost! We need you both in this war!

in this day and age when most people do not hold the Bible as an authority in their life, you cannot come at them biblically first. that's craig's big thing about the debate. you can't use the Bible for people who don't believe in it. think about this commercial in its context within our popular culture- it is not made for children, and it isn't necessarily made for Christians either. but hopefully it will catch some attention, raise some awareness, and make a connection with people who can relate to the type of media it's coming in. jesus is all about that, guys- telling stories and raising issues in ways that people around him will understand. and while i'm on the topic of being culturally aware- i am pretty sure that the name "the way of the master" throws up some pretty negative conotations. at least it does to me.

I remember he made a video against Rob Bell's NOOMA series once, too. How many good Christians can this guy want blood from? Many months ago I watched a video response on You Tube to Rob Bell's Nooma video "Bullhorn Man". Since I'd only recently become a Christian at that time, and had no idea who the man in the video was, I kind of brushed him off as yet another judgmental Christian the likes of which I'd hated as a porn producer. That, however, is a bit judgmental of me. And I've learned that being judgmental of the judgmental is still... judgmental. I have to constantly remind myself of that, because everything inside of me wants to scream words like IDIOT into the face of people who would rather tear down those who are out making a difference, instead of getting off their lazy "Christian" butts and reaching into gutters to pull out those who are passed out in the mire.
All I can say to this fellow is that not all of us are going to ever agree on what Jesus would or would not do. If you'd like pure honesty, I'm not much of a fan of Pete the Porno Puppet, but I do think it's a very big mistake to devalue and discredit the entire ministry of XXXChurch because of him. Pete's purpose was served when Jay Leno heard of the Pete and Ron Jeremy clip and told the entire NATION about xxxchurch.com.
What I DO know from personal experience is that for the last two years of my porn producing career, the perspectives I had on what Christian are was changed by the staff of XXXChurch. There were always Christians standing outside the porn conventions holding up signs telling me that I was heading to hell. I'd pass by and give them a one finger salute. There message was NOT getting through.
But there were these guys inside telling me and those around me that there was NOTHING we could EVER do to make God love us any less. NOTHING. And over the course of two years I gave them a lot of hell on their website and on my blog. They responded like Jesus would have responded. They turned the other cheek, and offered more of the same message: "There is NOTHING you could EVER do to make God love you ANY less".
I saw a vision of what a Christian SHOULD be in those men and women, and it opened my heart up to receive the message God wanted me to hear.
And now, my dear Mr. Friel, as you are questioning whether or not a ministry is producing fruit... kindly allow me introduce you to a man who produced more than 2 million pornographic images and hours and hours of video, who hated Christians with a passion and did everything he could to cause them grief, and who has been completely changed by God's love and the willing "vessels" he put into that porn producer's life, and who is now 3 months into Seminary, on his way to becoming a Pastor:

I am appaled that you guys would take porn and produce a video that treats it like "keep your hand out of the cookie jar" idea. Porn is a horrific addiction so treat it that way! I know of two familys one of which has serious problems due to porn and one that is totally riped apart.A women who was raped by her father as a young girl. Why? I was pretty surprised to read this entire blog and find so many people showing the condition of their heart totaly seperated from their mind. Both ministries are doing a great job and it seems both ministries tip toed over the line. I hope from all of this each ministry will recieve a huge amount of publicity gaining further support to continue doing what they are doing.
The mission never changes however the vission does. How will we reach people? How will we keep people? And how will we help people? God's grace is sufficent and he employs several methods to fulfill his purposes. We talk about sheltiering children from such an awful thing like porn. Satan doesn't care that they are children. If he can lure them at any age he will. Especially with something like porn or any other self destructive sin. 3xchurch is deffinetly opening doors for people to talk about porn with out the embaressment of it. Before 3x how did families talk about porn? With lots of shame and embaresment at least now there is something to build on. Not that it is perfect for everyone but at leasst you have got a refference other than see that mag over their, never look at it.
I am compleetly against bashing another person. I do believe in calling a person out for their sin the way Jesus described. This seems to be a real reach for ratings or publicity or something. No one is perfect everyone makes mistakes and God forgives us so we should forgive others.
One final thought, You know Jesus needed Judas. Someone had to betray Jesus in order to move things into their place in history. God uses painful moments to move us into our place in his plan. a thief goes in front of a Judge..
Judge says you were caught stealing at walmart.
I will sentence you to five years,,,
A good man steps in and says I will pay the thief’s fine
The Judge says OK but the thief must repent first
So the Judge asks the thief if he is sorry and will repent
The thief says YES… and the Judge has mercy and lets Him go..
“your free to go!”
A month later the thief is caught stealing again and returns in front
of the judge and the judge says you have stolen from many walmarts since
I let you go,, what do you have to say Now?

The thief says I am sorry and the good man paid the price the first Time.
And it is paid for me “past, present and future…”and I know you could not see me stealing
because all you could see was the Good mans Price he paid for me
