Some University of Texas researchers had nothing to do and came up with a list the world seemed to be lacking. Funny, porn not mentioned among the reasons although drugs, disease, God and a new job are in the running. The top and bottom reasons for having sex from a list of 237 that college-aged men and women gave University of Texas researchers:

Hey, I saw this article in the newspapers today! What so great about this piece of news?? Why do I care if other people are having sex or not or what their reasons are for having sex?
I don't care. I want to live my own life. And why are these people revealing their personal details to the public?Don't they need privacy over these matters?

The only suprising thing was someone having sex to try and spread disease.

These lists actually make me quite sad. It is truly sad how easily people will offer their own bodies to another person whom they may not even know, and are certainly not married to, just so they can get a promotion, raise, job, money and whatnot.
There is also so much selfishness and self-centeredness in the responses, especially the ones starting with "I want" or "I was." Not that any of us needs to know why these people are having sex, but it does show the wickedness and evil that is in the heart of men and women.
I feel like crying. I think I will go pray and cry to God. :(

One comment, someone let me know if I make any sense to anyone else or if it's just me...

number 10 on the "bottom 10 reasons" list on both lists is "to feel closer to God," and it is sort of an odd reason. Most of the time I wouldn't even think about that reason in that kind of a context.

But to be honest (and maybe it's just me) but it seems like this reason isn't too far out there. When we do things that are holy and pleasing to God, we worship God through them- and so through having sex (with our married partner, of course) we are worshiping God in a way.

Just something to think about, I'm not justifying the list or putting it down, just opening up another avenue of discussion....

The reason I want to have sex with another person:

1)The other person is a godly man who fears God tremendously.
2)The church pastor says so--commanded me to do so.
3)It is my duty as a wife to fulfil my ugly husband's sexual needs , not my needs ever because the church teaches us women not to choose husbands according to sexual attraction altogether- if he is a very godly, good christian but damn ugly and GOd commanded you to marry him , fuck him anyway because your vagina is made by GOD and God paid a huge price on the cross to save your vagina from hell , so you better do what He says otherwise you are DISOBEYING God the Almighty.

candystore, that was a weird post - what's goin on there?

One of the things that I didn't like about the article is the fact that many of the answers were a simple rendition of another. So physical pleasure, wanted the release, and to achieve orgasm are all the same thing. Why not combine them and figure out some other reasons?

With #10 being "closer to God", I think a few respondents were listening to Nine Inch Nails a little too much.
