Confession makes us transparent, allowing someone else to see fault in us. It humbles us. But God gives grace to the humble. If we confess our sins, it shows that the truth is in us. God is faithful to forgive us of those sins, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us of all sin.

1 John 1:8-9

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 But IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS, HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST TO FORGIVE US OUR SINS, AND TO CLEANSE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.

No matter what the fault. No matter how awful, how incredible, how perverted, how evil the sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us those sins and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness. What does ALL mean? It means just that—ALL.. Every bit of sin. Whatsoever sin. Each and every. Every single. ALL unrighteousness.

However, we must first break down our pride. Pride wants others to think that we have no sin. But we are deceiving others, as well as deceiving ourselves. This confession isn’t only a confession of our faults to God, but to others as well.

James 5:16

16 CONFESS YOUR FAULTS ONE TO ANOTHER, and PRAY ONE FOR ANOTHER, THAT YOU MAY BE HEALED. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Confessing your fault to another, and praying with him, brings healing. It brings forgiveness. It brings cleansing.

And confessing when we’ve looked at porn because of our boyfriend or girlfriend, is no different. There’s someone out there that won’t judge you or condemn you—but will pray with you, that you may be healed. His effectual fervent prayer will avail much, and you will experience the faithfulness and justice of God in forgiving you of your sins and cleansing you from all unrighteousness.

Go to that person. Take the initiative, and experience healing.

Now, concerning the boyfriend or girlfriend that ignited your lust for porn, listen; If they don’t respect you enough to protect your purity, then they aren’t worth your time.

When we are dating someone, they should stimulate us unto good works. They should be of like faith and have an unfeigned love toward God. They should be someone who challenges you in your relationship with God. They should have a hunger for the Word, a life of praise, and a greater desire to please God than you.

Read the Word together. Worship together. Pray together. Establish your relationship on God. Grow in your love for God, and your love will automatically grow for each other. Instead of a fleshly, carnal love, God will work in you both to do His kind of love. His likeness and nature and character will grow in you, and His love will be wrought in you, as laid out in 1 Corinthians 13… a love that indeed cannot fail.

If your boyfriend or girlfriend lives contrary to this and does not care to grow in God, then sever that relationship. It will corrupt your good morals, habits, and character.

1 Corinthians 5:11

11 But now I have written to you NOT TO KEEP COMPANY IF ANY MAN WHO IS CALLED A BROTHER BE A FOR FORNICATOR, OR COVETOUS, OR AN IDOLATOR, OR A RAILER, OR A DRUNKARD, OR AN EXTORTIONER; NOT EVEN TO EAT WITH SUCH A ONE.

1 Corinthians 15:33

33 Be not deceived: EVIL COMPANIONSHIPS CORRUPT GOOD MORALS.

Many teens deceive themselves in thinking they, by their good works, can change the other person and help them to Christ. BE NOT DECEIVED. More times than not, it is they who have been influenced by the other. That relationship has caused them to compromise their own purity. So these verses aren’t judgmental in the least, but are protecting you of your purity. Sever that relationship, and love God first and foremost until one comes your way who will love you through Him.
