I get to do and experience a lot of things because of XXXchurch.com. There are some things that once we finish, I am glad to be done and no need to repeat. Last week, I spent 5 days on the road with 7 different guys + my 2 kids for the last day. We called it the #PornKills Tour.

The last night of the tour, I played Phil Collins “One More Night”. Jeff Bethke had no idea who Phil Collins was. I felt like we should just keep going. The tour was a great time and we reached a lot of people with this message. We are kicking around a run from Seattle – Canada in the summer and then some one-off nights in the future.

We will be releasing a DVD or a digital download of the Program plus behind the scenes stuff within a month. We will share that with you when it is out.

I asked the guys to share some thoughts about the experience. It was a privilege to spend time with this crew and as much as I give Dave Vahey a hard time, this guy made this thing happen and was incredible.

I can’t tell you how many times I have typed out and deleted the words “Pork Kills” instead of Porn Kills during the last three weeks of hash-tagging this or blogging that. Can you imagine? XXXchurch Presents: The Pork Kills Tour. Haha.

Well, last week’s #PornKills Tour was a joy to me. Five cities in three states in five days. Prior to leaving, my wife and I spent a good amount of time in prayer, asking that the Lord prepare my heart and the hearts of the six other men touring together to serve rather than be served, to exalt Jesus rather than to exalt ourselves, to take opportunities to pray with people, and to speak truth with confidence. Scripture tells us that we defeat the power of Satan by testifying about the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on our behalf for the penalty of our sins. I believe that through the proclamation of the gospel as light infiltrating the darkness of pornography, the Holy Spirit truly did convict hearts and provide hope for people at these events.

One thing I particularly enjoyed about the event itself was Craig’s time given to the fact that the devil is real. I forget that. I forget that I am in the midst of a war and Satan and demons fight against me and want to kill me. He comes to steal, kill and destroy our lives. He comes to tell many an addict that they are beyond grace and salvation. Can you imagine what it will be like when that accuser is destroyed? “And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, ‘Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…'” (Rev 12:10-11).

Snapshot highlights:

  • Nick Vitellaro performing with us in Seattle – that dude kills! (Pun intended.)
  • Dave the Driver and his sexy shoulder hair.
  • Scotty the Mechanic and his sweet mechanic jacket.
  • Mike Gross and his killer X3 photos.
  • Jeffery Bethke and his amazing ten hours of sleep.
  • Matthew Robertson and his amazing morning-wake-up-videos.
  • Craig Gross and all night drives with the Winnebago Man.

The Porn Kills Tour was an honor to participate in. To those of you that prayed for us, thank you. I loved getting to know the dudes we were out with, and serving alongside them. Hopefully this will not be the last “Pork Kills” tour.

Finally, shout out to Nolan and Elise Gross – the two coolest kids you’ll ever meet. They’re way more important and popular than any of us, anyway.

After spending 60 out of 120 hours in a hearse here are my thoughts on the porn kills tour.  Would I do this tour again, in a heartbeat.  Why, its simple.  the people.  The people I personally talked with had a lot of questions, it seemed like they were bottled up for years waiting for a time like this to ask, inquire and confess.  It’s unfortunate that we as Christ followers have a hard time talking about the sins of the heart but as I know, addiction is embarrassing and hard to talk about. the porn kills tour was just a 5 day tour maybe touching about 20k people thru personal interactions and online views.  I hope the conversation continues. We also get flipped off as we drove the hearse always made us smile, although some 70 year old lady blew us kisses so that made up for it.

“The tour was so awesome! I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better time. It was amazing on both ends — the people, stories, etc & also the nights in hotels with the guys just chatting about life and hanging out. This tour made me realize just how universal of a problem it is. We had 12 year olds there and we had senior citizens there. We had rich, poor, black, white, girl, and guy. Also so many people came up to me after and expressed how thankful they were for the night and how they don’t know of much out there on the topic. So cool to hear! So overall it was one of my favorite tours I’ve ever done. I loved the people. I loved the stories. I loved the hearse. And I loved getting to hang with friends while doing it.”

The tour was a great time of reflection and a motivation to my spiritual walk with Christ. I felt ministered to as much as those in the audience. It was extremely encouraging to me to see that the people on stage were as authentic and genuine off stage. It was also a blessing for me to have people come up and tell me how XXXchurch had impacted their lives and marriages even though I was just a tag along to the tour. It showed me the power and effectiveness of Craig’s ministry. I see the value of bringing this topic to churches and cities which is mostly ignored or overlooked by modern society. As I said in my earlier email I had an amazing time the entire time and would like to play a role in XXXchurch ministries in the future, however that may look. Thank you again and thanks Dave for helping make this happen. May God bless all of you.

The Porn Kills tour was more than I could have expected. Going in, I knew Jeff and Craig, and had briefly met Dave previously, however I wasn’t aware of how great of an experience it was going to be. I felt immediately that the group of guys we had there gelled, and you could tell there was a special connection between everyone. I think the coolest part was to see how the people who attended the nights were impacted by them. There is a tendency when you are preforming the same poems, same talks, and answer similar questions every single night, to get into a routine, but hearing from people after the concerts and seeing the impact that it had on them was amazing. We were very blessed by God during the whole trip to have nearly no issues at all weather that be with the hearse, or with the events, any problems that came up were able to be solved immediately. Overall, it was just so great to be able to see the conversation being opened up to talk about pornography in its fullness and help people discuss these secrets which truly kill marriages and lives. Being able to film the whole tour was such a blessing, and I am so thankful for the job that the lord has given me as I get to experience tours like this, and build relationships with those who were a part of it.
