School principal quits after porn found on computer

A primary school principal found with porn on his school computer has quit.

Tim Jenkinson, principal of Bayview School at Glenfield on Auckland’s North Shore was allowed to keep his job after adult pornography was found during an upgrade of the school’s computers in July.

However, yesterday the school board confirmed he had resigned and had left the school.

Board of trustees chairman Paul Apperley said earlier this week it was a “minor issue” and Mr Jenkinson had received a written warning.

Mr Jenkinson’s wife, Vicki, said this week her husband had admitted to the pornography but he had no memory of it.

She said he had been under great stress and was getting help from medical experts, the church and counsellors.

The paper said the resignation came two days after parents were told the board had investigated after the material was found in July and that the safety and wellbeing of children was not compromised.
