I have been fighting an addiction to porn for almost 10 yrs. Over the course of the past year I have made a much stronger commitment to purifying my heart through prayer and scripture and I am beginning to see a difference. The question that I have is how can I purify my eyes and my vision? Will the images and thoughts ever go away? I’m doing better at looking at women in general but there are times, especially in regards to revealing outfits, that it is difficult to keep my eyes focused on a positive aspect of a woman’s body, such as her face while conversing. Is there anything I can do in order to avoid or overlook my desire to see something that I know is wrong? How can I look at a woman without lusting at her? I understand that God made women’s bodies to be appealing to men and that there is nothing I can do about that, but sometimes it is difficult to see a woman without thinking about the way her body curves. How can I change the way that I see them? I don’t want to lust after them, but at the same time they can be very pleasing to the eye.
The images will go away over time. The thing is we have trained our brains to think that porn is what we want to see. We have trained it to think we have to have it. Your brain is now doing what is natural and it is sending you images trying to spark what it thinks you need and wants.
Over time as you remove yourself from the viewing of porn and you “starve” your brain of the images and thoughts it will start to disappear and your thoughts will be that of a more pure and stable mind.
The title preset much say it all but do you have any tips or tricks I can use to help prevent masterbation… I have not watched porn for a long while now and have been working hard on my mental view of ladies (I.e. not objectifying them etc) and am now stuck stuck. I guess it doesnt help I live on my own but any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
