Dear Frank,
Do you have someone you trust that you can lean on, talk to, confess and ask to hold you accountable? Accountability is so important and should be someone that loves you regardless of your actions or mistakes. We all fall short. It is important for us to have people in our lives that encourage us to walk the walk and keep up the fight.
Please go through our free resources and try to get yourself some accountability through a friend, family member, pastor, youth pastor etc. It should be someone of your same gender.
You are not alone and you can win this fight because Christ has alreay won the battle for us!
Hang in there.
So I was looking to get an accountability. I have never had one and feel like one of my friends would be great for it. But here is my question she is a girl and I’m a male. Can I have an accountability partner of the opposite sex? If not then why not? I need some solid advice before I ask her and tell her my story
Hey Joey,
We do not typically suggest accountabily of sexual nature be done with members of the opposite sex because of obvious reasons. Often times too, women want to “save” men and the accountabilty can get messy.
There are some rare cases where this works but again we don’t recommend it. Check out Craig Gross’ new book “OPEN” for what accountability is and how it should work!
God bless you
im a 15 year old girl and recently (though now regrettably) i watched porn. This wasn’t my first time watching it but i was introduced to it to my friend a couple of years ago but that was the last time i looked at it. Anyway, i had gotten the urge to watch it again so i did but now i’m really starting to regret it terribly. Ever since i watched it my mind can not stop thinking about it. Everything i do, my mind goes back to it. I even have fantasies about it which makes me feel dirty. I even start to imagine myself having a boyfriend and going down on him or him going down on me and then he goes out and cheats on me with another girl, which is my deepest fear if i ever do get into a relationship. It makes me sad to even think about it because im only 15 and i don’t want to worry about stuff like that right now. I just want to worry about my grades and enjoying my childhood being happy because i am recently going thorough severe depression. I plan on being a writer and i don’t want this to slow me down but it can’t those images out of my head. The thing i hate the most is that i watched one porn video that resembled somebody i know (but i most definitely know it wasn’t them) and now i can’t even looking at that person because my mind goes back to my video and i start to think about them doing it to that person. How can i get these thoughts out of my mind. I start school again next week and i really want these thoughts to leave so they don’t start to interfere with my school work. please help me. What should i do?
Dear Tyra,
The bible tells us that the only way to ‘renew our minds’ is by washing it daily with the Word. So— our recommendation is through prayer, fasting and reading the Word you will begin to overcome.
I totally agree with you that during this time in your life your concerns should be about school and enjoying your young life! God has so much for you and you are right– you don’t want to spoil that by settling for or absorbing a counterfeit.

God bless you.
