Frequently Asked Questions.
I have no idea where to start to make my self stop. The addiction seems like a monster that looks like me, acts like me, sounds like me. How can I make that first step to fight my self.
Is masturbation a sin? If so why? I’ve read through my Bible to find the answer. I know Christ, and Paul, talk about lustful thoughts… but I have begun practicing masturbation without lustful thoughts (not as an addiction, but mainly for the release ever so often). I try not to focus on anything and just stare at my ceiling. I find when I just stop “cold-turkey” my thoughts, hormones, and feelings get out of control. I find it easier to control my mind during masturbation than without masturbation at all. Is this sin? Why? Should I stop?
Our stance is simply this: you want to live a life that is honoring to God then start pleasing him and stop pleasing yourself. Stop making excuses and get some control over your life. Yes, it is tough. Yes, we know hormones are raging. However, God is calling us to holiness. Live an extraordinary life. Masturbation will leave you hanging every time! It is a selfish act that pleases no one but YOU. God created sex to be between a man and his wife. Not a man and his girlfriend and not a man or woman with himself or herself.
I’ve been having a porn addiction for a few years now and everytime I have tried to stop, it would come back full force to the point where I cannot resist temptation. I wanna end my addiction and I have been to SA meetings in St. Louis and they don’t necessarily deal with porn so I was wondering if you knew of any program in the St. Louis, Missouri area that deals with porn addiction and what i can do to stop my addiction on the phone and computer?
Ben,
Understand the feeling you have right now and please know that you are not alone in this.
SA is a pretty good program but, you may want to see if you have a Celebrate Recovery program in your area. Also you can look into the X3 Groups program as well for accountability. You can find more info at www.x3groups.com
