Frequently Asked Questions.
Is it sinful to have certain fetishes? For instance, I have a thing for women’s feet. Is that a sin?
If this is a sexual item for you and you are doing this with your wife, no it is not a sin. How ever if this is leading you into lust and it is not in a marriage or you are taking it outside of your marriage it is.
I have been sober since mid October, mostly thanks to God leading me to brothers in my church who struggled with porn, but by also using the x3watch accountability software. To be on the safe side I make sure I have x3watch on my pc each time I switch out Operating systems, but over the past month or so the urges have become smaller and smaller. I was wondering if there’s an ideal amount of time to wait before I could start dating. or if I even should think about it?
Katy – I would wait till you have a good solid grasp on your temptation and how you respond to it. If you are able to hold a relationship and be able to control your lustful thoughts and your actions than it would be fine. Each person is different so take a good look inward and see what this looks like for you right now.
I have read a lot of books on how to recover from porn and the books all say that you need to find something to take the place of the porn. What kind of thing? Obviously a good thing. So if your body is in such a routine of looking at porn that it craves it every week. What would you do to calm down that craving? What would you replace the porn with?
David,
You are the one to have to figure out what to replace this with. For some it is a hobby that they have or finding a new one. Others it is getting invovled in their community more and helping. Other ideas would be church, small groups, reading, excersicing, running, walking, or anything that you enjoy doing that is a healthy fit.
It may even take a few of these things to replace the sexual sin void left behind depending on the level you where at.
