Frequently Asked Questions.
I have two questions: I first got honest with my problem with porn about 5 years ago, and started making changes to my life to try and turn it around. I started with x3watch and an accountability partner, then I got a porn blocker, I read many books (like Every Man’s Battle), then I got rid of my internet altogether, I’ve gone for counselling, now I’m in a 12 step fellowship. This has all helped me drastically, I have much more hope, and I’ve had a few long periods of sexual sobriety. My issue is that my addiction is good at finding “go arounds”, for example, when I got rid of the internet, I started acting out to TV, when I got rid of TV, I started acting out at work (at great personal risk… YIKES!). So it’s almost better for me to have access to the internet so I don’t act out in more risky or twisted ways. What are your thoughts on this? Can someone stay sober if they have access to pornography? My second question deals with service. In my 12 step fellowship, this is something that is mentioned a lot as something that helps people stay sober. One thing I feel passionate about it protecting children from pornography. Access is so easy, and something like that would not fly if it were for other addictive substances like alcohol or cigarettes. Do you know of any groups that are promoting government action on this issue? And, more abstractly, do you think someone who is still acting out ought to be be involved in service, or should they focus completely on trying to stay sober first? Sooo, that was actually four questions. Thanks for your work on this stuff by the way, it was x3church that got me first started on the road to recovery.
So can people stay sober and have access to porn? Yes. But, these folks are the ones who have taken their addiction head on and have been able to get their selves on the side of Real Change. I will be honest your struggles are signs of a top level addict. If you have not already looked into it I would check out a live in program and get solid help on this issue. Solid help that is what you do everyday for awhile in a facility that will help you to retrain yourself to understand what a pure life is.
As for serving others in this area it is a great way for folks to stay clean by helping others get clean. I whould howe ever suggest that a person would get themselves recovery first and have a grip on what they are doing before trying to help others.
You are not alone and know that we are praying for you.

I have been watching porn for several years now. Lately I have started watching more and more homosexual porn, and it is an addiction that I am struggling to quit. I do not think I am gay. Will God forgive me? What if I go through with some of my urges? And what can I do to stop?
